  • We specialise in vascular ultrasound so cannot offer other scans. Please refer to our services page for a full list of examinations we offer. Please get in touch with the other local ultrasound providers in Nelson (such as Pacific Radiology or Koru) so that they can assist you with other ultrasound services.

  • Please select the examination type that you require from our services menu, prices are available when booking an appointment. Prices vary between examination types based on the requirements of the examination.

  • We offer Afterpay on request that allows payment via four interest-free installments.

  • Every provider is slightly different and ‘medical necessity criteria’ apply. We recommend you speak directly to your provider to ensure you are covered and to what amount so as to avoid any disappointment. We are a Southern Cross affiliated provider.

  • No, you are welcome to self-refer. However, some insurance providers require you to have a referral for reimbursement. If you have insurance, we recommend you speak directly to your provider to confirm what their requirements are.

  • No, and this is a good thing. We do not profit from procedures so we can give you an honest opinion that can guide your health journey. We can help direct you to treatment providers in our region if treatment is recommended.

  • Generally they are painless. Occasionally, firm pressure may be applied. Please let us know if you experience any discomfort so we can find a more comfortable solution.

  • Yes. Ultrasound has been safely performed on millions of adults, children, and babies worldwide. Ultrasound does not use radiation and instead uses sound waves to look inside the human body.

  • Yes, unless you have a valid exemption. You will be required to adhere to the Manuka Street Hospital policies.

  • Your booking confirmation email contains a link to change the appointment. This allows you to select a new time or day of appointment. Please note that changes cannot be made within 24 hours via the website and you will need to contact our reception team at Manuka Street Hospital.

  • Our website doesn’t currently allow us to select two examinations to book at once (we are working on this!). Please find an appointment that has a free slot following it and book these two in a row separately so that we can complete both examinations in one visit.
